*Seperti biasa, politik 'satu upmanship' - seperti Pas dan UMNO cuba mengalahkan satu sama lain di Malaysia untuk memenangi undi Melayu/Islam dengan kerap mempermainkan kad bangsa dan agama, seolah-olah alpa akan perasaan orang bukan Melayu dan bukan Rakyat Malaysia yang beragama Islam.

Kami, rakyat Sarawak tersinggung dengan itu - ia bertentangan dengan Sarawak berbilang kaum dan agama yang wujud bersama di bawah payung perpaduan yang sama dalam kepelbagaian seperti yang dilambangkan oleh CARA HIDUP PENERIMAAN kami yang telah diuji masa yang tidak dicemari, melupakan KAUM dan AGAMA. .

Mengapa Kepimpinan SARAWAK kita terus tidur dengan gabungan yang didominasi oleh Parti yang digerakkan oleh kaum dan agama sememangnya membingungkan....

melainkan....melainkan...mereka juga 'burung sebulu' ?

Kini, setelah GPS mendakwa dirinya berbeza dengan bekas BN, semoga Kepimpinan Negeri Sarawak kita mengamalkan apa yang DIKHABARKAN, dengan MENJAUHKAN diri daripada parti atau gabungan 'berasaskan KAUM dan Agama' di Peringkat Persekutuan.

Apa-apa yang bertentangan dengan Sembilan Prinsip Kardinal SARAWAK kita adalah 'doublespeak' atau lebih teruk lagi, hipokrit.

Why our SARAWAK Leadership continues to sleep with a coalition dominated by Parties driven by race and religion is indeed mind-boggling....

unless....unless...they are also 'birds of the same feather' ?

Now that GPS claims itself to be different from ex-BN, may our Sarawak State Leadership practises what it PREACHES, by DISTANCING itself from 'RACE and Religion-based' parties or coalitions at the Federal Level.

Peristiwa 'bersejarah' dan 'pencapaian parlimen' baru-baru ini jelas menunjukkan bahawa Sarawak, jika tidak 'Negeri-Negeri Borneo' paling banyak mendapat manfaat daripada pindaan perlembagaan dengan penggabungan MA63 ke dalam Perlembagaan Persekutuan – terima kasih kepada sokongan dwi-partisan Ahli Parlimen dari KEDUA-DUA. sisi jurang politik. Satu lonjakan besar dalam mengejar MA63, selepas 59 tahun dan MA63 kini menikmati kuasa undang-undang.

What about the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ?

The recent ‘historic’ events and ‘parliamentary milestone’ clearly showed that Sarawak, if not ‘the Borneo States’ benefitted most from the constitutional amendments with the incorporation of MA63 into the Federal Constitution – thanks to the bi-partisan support of MPs from BOTH sides of the political divide. A giant leap in the pursuit of MA63, after 59 years and MA63 now enjoys the force of law.



The onus and urgency are on the GPS State Government of the day to pursue, without further delay, the compliance and implementation of the Malaysia Agreement as provided for under the enshrined rights, terms and safeguards in relation to the scope of Article VIII  of the Agreement which clearly spelt out that ‘the Governments of the Federation of Malaya, North Borneo and Sarawak will take such legislative, executive or other action as may be required to implement the assurances, undertakings and recommendations contained in Chapter 3 of, and Annexes A and B to, the Report of the Inter-Governmental Committee signed on 27th February, 1963, in so far as they are not implemented by express provision of the Constitution of Malaysia.’

We may confidently say that this landmark constitutional amendment would not have happened under a strong Federal Government dominated by Umno-BN as seen in the past 50-over years where Sarawak and Sabah were shabbily treated more like colonies of Malaya than equal founding partners of Malaysia.

SARAWAK VOTERS must be wiser by now to KNOW the DIFFERENCE.

A strong UMNO-BN Federal Government will likely see MA63 being put in the back-burner or kicked further down the road of political procrastination.

It goes without saying that the political will is obviously lacking  just as allowing GPS and UMNO-BN to hold the reins of power will only serve to magnify the indifference and inaction, insofar as the ‘compliance and implementation of MA63’ are concerned.

We must also be reminded that there is no ‘unstable government’ but an incompetent government helmed by a group of greedy and self-serving leaders which consistently harp on race and religion and buttered with ‘selective and discriminative’ policies of administering the country under its ‘divide and rule’ agenda.

Lest we forget - ‘Procrastination is the thief of time’.

Haven’t we seen enough of this political procrastination?

For the past 59 years ?

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH  !

NO MORE UMNO-BN and ITS CRONIES AND ASSOCIATES IN WHATEVER FORM OR SUBSTANCE – ex-BN or GPS.

       THAT PETRONAS PAID THE 5% SALES TAX ON O&G BUT THE 5% ROYALTY AND 38% SHARE OF TAX UNDER PITA’67 REMAINS UNPAID. GPS ACHIEVEMENT HERE: F FOR FAIL

SARAWAK WAS SLATED TO BE ALLOCATED 15% OF THE TOTAL (RM400 BILLION)

DEVELOPMENT FUND. 15% HARDLY QUALIFY TO BE DESCRIBED AS AN EQUITABLE SHARE

 FOR A REGION DESCRIBED AS AN EQUAL

 PARTNER IN THE FEDERATION. EQUITABLE

 SHARE SHOULD AT LEAST BE 33%.

 

THE TOTAL ALLOCATION FOR DEVELOPMENT UNDER THE 12MP IS RM400 BILLION, TOUTED AS THE BIGGEST 5-YEAR ROAD MAP EVER. TAKING THE 15% OF THAT MEANS SARAWAK SHARE OF THE DEVELOPMENT ALLOCATION IS RM60 BILLION. SPREAD OVER 4 YEARS, SARAWAK’S SHARE OF THE DEVELOPMENT ALLOCATION IN THE FEDERAL BUDGET SHOULD BE RM15 BILLION PER YEAR FOR 4 YEARS STARTING WITH BUDGET 2022 BUT SARAWAK’S ALLOCATION UNDER THE 1ST ROLLING PLAN OF THE 12MP WAS ONLY RM4.47 BILLION.

WHAT WAS THE PROMISE FOR SARAWAK UNDER THE NATIONAL BUDGET 2022?

THE PROMISE FOR SARAWAK UNDER THE BUDGET 2022 IS THE MIRROR IMAGE OF THE AMOUNT ALLOCATED UNDER THE 1ST ROLLING PLAN OF THE 12MP MENTIONED EARLIER.

WHY IS THERE SUCH A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PROMISED ALLOCATION UNDER THE 12MP AND THE ALLOCATION UNDER THE 1ST ROLLING PLAN AS REFLECTED IN THE BUDGET 2022? HOW DID IT HAPPEN?

JUST IN CASE THERE ARE READERS WHO MISSED IT, THE DIFFERENCE IS MORE THAN RM10 BILLION. IN OTHER WORDS, SARAWAK HAS BEEN SHORT-CHANGED BY RM10 BILLION.

 

IN THE 2023 BUDGET, SARAWAK WAS ALLOCATED RM5.4 BILLION, COMPARED TO SABAH WHICH WAS ALLOCATED RM6.3 BILLION AND THE MALAYAN STATES EACH GETTING AN AVERAGE OF RM33.8 BILLION.

PARLIAMENT, SARAWAK LOST HER RIGHTS TO

HER OIL AND GAS RESOURCES TO THE UMNO

LED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. THE

ENORMOUS FINANCIAL RESOURCES FROM

SARAWAK O&G WAS USED TO FUEL

DEVELOPMENT IN MALAYA, WITH SARAWAK GIVEN ONLY A 5% ROYALTY.

 

THE MOST VISIBLE SIGN OF THAT TODAY IS PETRONAS TWIN TOWER.

 

 

2.1 PETRONAS AGREED TO PAY

2.1 (A) THE 5% O&G SALES TAX

2.1 (B) 38 % TAX COLLECTED UNDER THE PETROLEUM (Income Tax) ACT 1967 (PITA).

2.1 (C) 5% ROYALTY ON O&G

 

THE CONSEQUENCE:

 

WITH THE NON-PAYMENT OF THE ROYALTY AND

THE SHARE OF TAX UNDER PITA’67 TO SARAWAK,

BN/UMNO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DEPRIVED

SARAWAK OF AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF

MONEY AND PREVENTING SARAWAK FROM

CARRYING OUT MUCH DEVELOPMENT WORKS IN

INFRASTRUCTURE AND UTILITIES LIKE TREATED

TREATED WATER AND ELECTRICITY TO RURAL

SARAWAK.

 

2.1 INITIAL IMPRESSION, PETRONAS AGREED TO SURRENDER THE RIGHTS TO SARAWAK’S

    PETROS.

PETRONAS ENDED UP HAVING 41% STAKE IN THE COMPANY GIVEN THE DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS OF THE LPG TANKS IN SARAWAK.

 

 

3. 12TH MALAYSIA PLAN & ANNUAL BUDGET

 

THE ABSOLUTE AMOUNT IN RINGGIT AND SEN WAS NOT STATED, JUST A RELATIVE FIGURE

(15%) WAS MENTIONED. HOW MUCH S’WAK

WILL ACTUALLY GET, ONLY HEAVEN KNOWS, DEPENDING UPON THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

ABILITY TO PULL IN THE REVENUE.

 

 

SINCE THE  FORMATION OF MALAYSIA, S’WAK

HAS NEVER BEEN GIVEN AN EQUITABLE SHARE

IN THE YEARLY DEVELOPMENT FUNDS FROM THE FEDERAL BUDGET DESPITE THE DEVELOPMENT

EXPENDITURES BEING FUELED BY MONEY FROM SARAWAK’S O&G.

 

BN/UMNO POSITION HERE: SARAWAK IS NOT A PRIORITY AS IT IS NOT REALLY SEEN AS TANAH

MELAYU.
